Pharmacological properties
The antiseptic action of the preparation is based on the properties of its active ingredients.
Iodoform — On contact with the wound surface, iodoform gradually decomposes and releases active iodine, providing a prolonged antibacterial effect.
Boric acid — An antiseptic substance with insecticidal activity. Promotes the coagulation of proteins, including enzymes, and disrupts cell membrane permeability. Suppresses phagocytosis and inhibits bacterial growth and development.
Oxytetracycline hydrochloride — A broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic with bacteriostatic activity. According to the source text, it is active against numerous Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, rickettsiae, spirochaetes, large viruses and certain protozoa.*
Streptocide — A short-acting sulfonamide with bacteriostatic activity against streptococci, meningococci, gonococci, Escherichia coli and other microorganisms. Through competitive antagonism with para-aminobenzoic acid, streptocide blocks folic acid synthesis in microbial cells, inhibiting microbial growth and development.
According to the source text, the preparation is classified as non-hazardous and does not cause irritation, toxic effects, allergic reactions or sensitisation at the recommended dose.
