Short Description

Ficoxil 57 mg is a chewable tablet for dogs used for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis, as well as postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue, orthopedic, and dental surgery.

Composition

1 tablet contains:

• Firocoxib — 57 mg

Indications

The product is used in dogs for:

• Relief of pain and inflammation associated with osteoarthritis;
• Relief of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with soft-tissue surgery;
• Relief of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with orthopedic surgery;
• Relief of postoperative pain and inflammation associated with dental surgery.

Contraindications

Do not use:

• In cases of hypersensitivity to firocoxib or any of the excipients;
• In pregnant or lactating bitches;
• In animals less than 10 weeks of age;
• In animals weighing less than 3 kg;
• In animals suffering from gastrointestinal bleeding, blood dyscrasia, or hemorrhagic disorders;
• Concomitantly with corticosteroids or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs).

Dosage and Method of Administration

Route of administration: Oral.

The product may be administered with or without food.

Osteoarthritis

The recommended dose is 5 mg firocoxib/kg body weight once daily, according to the dosage table below.

The duration of treatment depends on the animal's condition. Since field studies were limited to 90 days, long-term treatment should be carefully evaluated and carried out under regular veterinary supervision.

Relief of Postoperative Pain

The recommended dose is 5 mg firocoxib/kg body weight once daily for 3 days, according to the dosage table below.

If necessary, treatment should be initiated approximately 2 hours before surgery.

Following orthopedic surgery, depending on the animal's condition and at the discretion of the veterinarian, treatment may be continued beyond the first 3 days using the same dosage regimen.

Pregnancy and Lactation

Do not use in pregnant or lactating bitches.

Laboratory studies in rabbits have shown maternal and fetal toxicity at doses approximating the recommended therapeutic dose.
